Save Money on Cheaper Electricity
Here are some very easy steps you can take
to keep your electricity bills down.
Get Yourself an Electricity Monitor
It's amazing really how we take for granted such
little effect like leaving a light on for a few hours, or putting your
electricity equipment on standby overnight (naughty naughty!).
The problem for most is our electricity bill arrives,
we pay through the banks but we don't sit and allocate how much you spend on
each appliance, and work out ways to lower your electricity bill.
To help you keep track of your electricity usage on a
daily basis you can now invest in an Electricity Meter. These meters help you
to monitor your electricity useage in your home. Put one of these monitors in
your home for a few days and see if anyone dares leave a light on, or items on
standby for longer than necessary!
To some it may seem a hassle to keep having to track
your electricity use to try and lower your electricity bill - but if you are
serious on saving money off your electricity bill this is one of the best ways
to do so.
You can find a range of Electricity Monitors at
Amazon for between £30-£40
Turn off Standby - Automatically!
We all leave our electric products on standby. Mainly
TVs, DVDs, Satellite / Cable boxes etc... without really knowing how expensive
this is to us.
If you don't have an electricity monitor (see Tip 1)
it will be difficult to know just how much of your monthly or quarterly
electricity bill is made up of items on standby.
It's not easy always easy to remember to take items
off standby, and usually plug sockets behind televsions stands do not help
either.
What if you could program your electricity supply to
turn off your tvs, dvds etc... during the night and take off standby - well
with a Standby Energy Kit it's possible to put a timer on your plug socket to
cut off the electricity to that socket between certain hours of the day or
night!
It is estimated that an average 10% of your
electricity bill is made up of items left on standby. Work out that amount in
your next bill and within a few months a saving device like this costing
around £20-£30 could essentially pay for itself!
Amazon do a range of Energy Saving Kits
Fill Your Kettle Sparingly
Kettle's are power hungry but we many of us fill our
kettle's up each time we fancy a cuppa.
If your cup holds 250ml of water, by filling the
kettle you could be filling up to 8 times this much each time you boil!
Not only will it save money it means you get your bew
much quicker too!
Tumble Dryer or Natural Warmth
Clothes washed, out of the washing machine and in to
the drier - but it does not have to be.
Tumble dryers are one of the most electricity hungry
kitchen items you will own. Before you decide to load the tumble dryer take a
look at of the window and see if natures tumble dryer is on.
Take your clothes outside and hang them out to dry in
the sun. Not only will it give your clothes an extra airing, but will help
save money on your electricity bill.
Compare Electricity and Gas Prices and
Save
If you think your gas and electricity prices are too
high, and bills arrive each month greater than last month's it may be time to
shop around.
There are a few main electricity comparison websites
on the internet which will help you compare electricity prices and find the
cheapest for you. It's not always about price, you have to ensure the tariff
is suitable for your circumstances too. |
